Sea Of Thieves To Host Free-To-Play Week For Friends

Current Sea of Thieves players can invite up to three friends to sail for free all week long.

Players will soon be able to bring their friends along for oceanic adventures in Sea of Thieves. Rare announced that the game will be hosting a whole free-to-play week for new and returning players to join in the fun. There’s just one catch: players need to be invited to the event.

The free-to-play week begins on February 6 at 6am PST and will run until February 13. Those who currently own Sea of Thieves or play it using an Xbox Game Pass subscription can invite up to three friends to join in the fun. They just need to visit SeaofThieves.com/friends-play-free to grab their free codes to send to friends. The event is open to both Xbox One and Windows PC players, but console players will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play.

Rare is also offering a limited-time Mercenary Voyage to give players an adventure to share. These special quests will take sailors on an adventure to find the notorious Rum Runner’s treasure. Those that finish the quest will be rewarded with in-game riches and special Mercenary cosmetic items. Players will need to speak to Duke in the tavern to get the adventure started.

But the seafaring life doesn’t have to end when the event does. Anyone who redeems a Friends Play Free code will receive a 35 percent discount for Sea of Thieves on the Xbox One or Windows 10 digital stores between February 6-27.

The event will ramp up to some big news on March 20, when Sea of Thieves celebrates its one-year anniversary. So, gather up your friends and come sail away.
