Fancy yourself a budding interior designer? We reckon you're gonna be all about customizing your home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and so are we.

A lot has changed since the good ol’ New Leaf days, and the most recent Nintendo Direct about Animal Crossing: New Horizons has shown that some of the most significant improvements may actually come in the form of, well, interior decorating. Reckon that they’ve taken a leaf out of Happy Home Designer’s book? Here’s what’s new about customizing your home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Customizing Your Home in Animal Crossing New Horizons

It’s unlikely that Nintendo is throwing the baby out with the bathwater when it comes to control schemes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I mean, all the Amiibos are still going to be compatible, for one. However, while New Leaf’s customizing abilities were robust for the time, budding interior designers have been hungry for just a couple more features ever since Happy Home Designer. Now, the latest from the Direct shows us that we can expect a mix of the classic renovation scheme that we know and love, and something a little more user-friendly.

There are a number of things that are going to make your life easier when it comes to customizing your home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, right down to furniture storage. You’ll be able to put any unwanted couches away super quickly. You don’t have to lug them over to a cabinet; as long as you’re inside your home, you can store any item from any place without needing to so much as lift a finger.

If you’re looking at moving furniture around and getting the placement of it just right, you’ll be pleased to know that the game has taken all the right cues from Happy Home Designer. You can still do things the old fashioned way by pulling a chair from one end of your McMansion to the other, or you can pop into the view that HHD gave you and freeform things a little bit. You can put items wherever you like without having to worry about scuffing the tiles of your home or getting stuck between a table and a froggy chair. Talk about convenient!

You’ll also be able to select groups of items to move them around, which we reckon is going to be especially useful for those who are big fans of wall decorations. No one wants to move every individual planter from one wall to another one by one, especially if you have a whole forest of them. The ability to bulk-move decorations looks great, and we wonder if the same feature will also extend to larger pieces of furniture.

Now that you know a little bit more about what’s new when it comes to customizing your home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, we reckon you’re as stoked as we are to jump in and to try everything out.
