Now that you’ve disarmed the bomb, it’s time to finish what you can here to do—find Lucas in Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero. In this part of our walkthrough we’ll tell you how to reach the final area of the game, where you’ll get to explore the lab and hunt for Lucas as he tries to escape Umbrella’s grasp and share the information that he has gathered about Evie.

Prepare for the Deathtrap
Having removed the bomb from his wrist, Redfield receives intel that Lucas is hiding somewhere behind the Shield Machine located in the Central Cavern. Now that you have the Clown Key, head back to the Central Cavern and interact with the middle console, next to the Tape Recorder. Make sure you save—just to be safe—and then activate the button to cause the Shield Machine to open.
Head up the steps to the right and you’ll locate a door that leads inside. There’s a ton of ammunition in this area, so make sure you grab it all. Trust us, you’re going to need it in the next section, so go ahead and reload everything and make sure your pistol is set to use RAMRODs, as you’ll need those too.
Once you’re ready, head through the next door, where you’ll get a short bit of dialogue from good, old Lucas, and then you’ll find yourself thrown into a massive fight against several waves of molded, which you’ll need to survive.
Escape the Deathtrap
There are three total waves to take into account as you head into this next area, and each wave becomes progressively more difficult, and opens up more room in the area. The most effective thing to do in this section is make your way up the steps that you entered from. Set up here with your shotgun ready, and take out the molded as they stream up. Use your RAMRODs on any white molded that appear (there is one per wave), and wait until the final wave, when two fat molded appear.
These fat molded aren’t as strong as the mini boss that you just fought, though, and they should go down pretty easily. Once the encounter is done, Lucas will make another call in, and then activate a ten-second countdown that tasks you with escaping the shield machine. You can escape using one of the floor grates around the area, and while the one just to the right of the entrance worked for us, we’re pretty sure that you need to try them all to trigger the escape.
Explore the Lab
Having escaped the deathtrap, you’ll find yourself in another night vision area. Head through the following area to reach a hallway inside of the Research Facility. Here the light will return to normal and you’ll find yourself inside a lab built to study Evie—the main antagonist from the game’s main storyline. Head past the deactivated turret, and you’ll officially enter the lab itself.
There’s a set of stairs to the left that lead up to a locked door. Ignore them for now. Instead, follow the path down the main corridor instead. There are a set of blue double doors to the side here. You can head inside, and through a set of doors to the left to enter a padded room with two white molded. Take them down and grab the File and RAMRODs in the area.
Head back out of the padded room and into the main corridor. Follow it up to find a molded laying on a gurney. Go ahead and kill it before it can awaken, and then grab the supplies and File poking out of the locker just around the corner. At the end of the area you’ll find a locked door, as well as a large window that shows Lucas working on a computer inside. Turn around from where Lucas is and you’ll spot a door.
Make your way inside the door, and locate the switch on the wall. You can interact with this switch to trigger the power, and allow the door to the room that Lucas is in to be unlocked. Flip the switch and then head outside to trigger a bit of dialogue, causing Lucas to run away.
Head inside the room after him, and make use of the Tape Recorder on the table. There’s also a door that leads back to the entrance, in case you want to explore any of the areas more thoroughly before you continue.
