How to Change Your FOV

Unfortunately, thanks to the latest update for PUBG, players are now unable to edit their FOV using the methods described below. According to the developers, they will be adding an FOV slider into the game in the future. This means users will have to stick with the default FOV.

Changing your FOV in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is somewhat complicated, and you’ll need to be comfortable changing some of the settings in the game’s files if you really want to change the FOV. Be sure to follow all of the instructions below to keep from breaking any of the game’s important files. It should also be noted that Brendan Greene—also known as PlayerUnknown—has stated that changing your FOV could lead to a false positive with Battleeye, which could lead to your account being banned.

To get started we first need to locate the files that we need to change. Open up the search bar on your desktop by pressing the Windows Key and the R key at the same time. Now, copy and paste %localappdata% into the search bar and hit enter.

Once the search finishes, located and navigate to \TslGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor.

Now, open up the file titled Engine.ini and add the following lines to the ini file.

[/script/engine.localplayer]

AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

After the line has been added, save the changes and close the file. Now, right-click on Engine.ini and tick the Read-Only option. This will make the file read-only, which will keep the program from automatically changing the settings that you’ve put into place. Now that you’ve set the FOV to be unchanged when you launch the game, hop in and make sure everything worked correctly.

Why Change Your FOV?

Now that we’ve shown you how to change your FOV, you might be asking wondering what the benefits of changing your FOV are. Well, first off, increasing your field of view makes it easier for you to see more of the screen at any given time. This can allow you to see enemy players before they see you, allowing you to plan your attacks, and react to their presence much quicker. This is extremely important in PVP (player versus player) games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and could easily be the difference between life and death.
