Offensive Scouting Report

QB Andy Dalton shows flashes of brilliance and that he can be the cornerstone of this franchise. With Dalton targeting WR A.J. Green we like the idea of keeping these two together long term.

Deal aging HB BenJarvus Green-Ellis to a team that’s in desperate need of HB help, like the Browns: HB Giovani Bernard is the future.

The TE duo of Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert ranks tops in the league. Sign both of these young studs up for long-term deals. They help make Dalton better, which is the best thing for this franchise.

Defensive Scouting Report

Coming off injury, DT Geno Atkins looks to have a big year. Monitor his status as he is only 26 years old. If he plays well give him a big contract extension.

CB Terence Newman is one of the premiere speed corners in the game. He will attract value on the trade market. Try to trade him for younger talent that can help this franchise down the road.

LE Margus Hunt is a second-year player to watch out for. His natural abilities could dominate the game; we hope to see him flourish in this defensive scheme. Get him playing time on the defensive line or at outside linebacker.

Key Offensive Player

Green is one of the best WRs in the game. Get him the ball early and often.

He is best used in the red zone, where his 6’4” frame stands out.

Key Defensive Player

Atkins is the complete package at DT for the Bengals. Size, speed, and strength allow him to play at all spots on the defensive line.

We move Atkins to DE against passing teams to take advantage of his pass-rushing skills and keep him at DT when facing running teams.

Key Sleeper

Mays has been a sleeper for many years and is once again one of the best lower-rated players in the game.

Considering his height (6’3”), speed, and power, Mays should be on the field for every snap of the game.

Key Rookie

Dennard brings depth to the secondary. We like using him as the nickel CB to cover slot WRs.

Dennard has the size and speed to play on almost every down.

Best Offensive Plays

Best Pass

Gun Bunch WK — Bunch Cross
ADVANCED SETUP

Drag or zig the TE (optional)

Streak the far left WR (optional)

Against zone coverage we always streak the far left WR and look for the easy catch in the seam.

Against man-to-man coverage we look to the underneath drags.

Against the blitz we go to the HB out of the backfield.

Best Run

Gun Trio — Inside Zone
ADVANCED SETUP

Follow your blocks inside

Look for running lanes outside the left tackle

This run is effective because it is quick to develop and we can run it inside or out.

If the defense uses base align cut the run outside.

Best Defensive Plays

Best Pass D

Dime Normal — Overload 3 Press
ADVANCED SETUP

Pinch defensive line

Press

This play is extremely effective because the field is balanced, but we’re still able to send effective pressure at the QB.

The DEs dropping into hook zones do a nice job of defending quick throws to TEs.

For lockdown coverage we like to user-control the FS in the box.

Best Run D

46 Normal — Inside Blitz
ADVANCED SETUP

Spread linebackers

Control the FS in the box

By spreading our linebackers and controlling the FS in the box we put nine defenders in the box.

It’s nearly impossible to run against this many defenders in the box.

Don’t over-play outside runs with the FS. Stay in the middle of the field and force runs outside.
