The Last Of Us Part II Director Teases “Most Ambitious Cinematic Shoot” They’ve Ever Done

The Last of Us Part II has officially wrapped filming and the director teased that "tears were shed."

Filming for the highly anticipated The Last of Us Part II from Naughty Dog is officially a wrap and director Neil Druckmann wasted no time teasing all of the tears we’ve yet to cry when the sequel finally launches. His latest inside look at what fans can expect promises an emotional end to the long-awaited tale, saying “tears were shed” alongside an image of Joel and Ellie’s actors in full mo-cap gear:

The above image came shortly after the final page of the script, effectively wrapping up all filming for the game and now onto finishing touches in preparation for a launch date reveal:

We still don’t have a release date at this time though an earlier leak does suggest a reveal coming soon. The PlayStation Store may have accidentally let the Clicker out of the bag when the sequel was listed under their “Coming Soon” section alongside other titles that were set for May and June releases.

Though not inline with previous rumors and leaks, a Spring / Summer release ahead of E3 would be incredible for many — especially since other “Coming Soon” additions include Mortal Kombat 11, Days Gone, and other releases coming in April, May, and June.

For now, we wait, though it bodes well for a sooner rather than later release that all of the scenes have finally wrapped.

For more about the game according to the game’s official synopsis, “Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.”
