Horizon Zero Dawn stole the hearts of many when it released earlier in the year, and over the past several months, many fans have wondered when the first DLC for the game would drop. Now that we have an official release date, we thought it only right that we take a look at some of the things that players can expect to see in the new DLC, The Frozen Wilds and what’s new. For those who haven’t been keeping up to date on the news surrounding Horizon Zero Dawn’s first DLC drop, the DLC will be available worldwide on November 7, less than a week from today.
What’s New in Horizon Zero Dawn The Frozen Wilds
The Frozen Wilds is a pretty hefty expansion when you take a look at everything, and the DLC itself will add a total of over 15 hours of gameplay to the already 100+ that the game has to offer. Now, there’s no clear confirmation about whether that 15 hours will only include the main game, or all of the content included in the DLC, but from what has been shown, there is supposed to be quite a bit added on top of the main storyline that the DLC focuses around.
Now, we don’t yet know what all the DLC includes, as that information hasn’t been revealed just yet. We have learned, though, that the DLC will include several new enemies for players to fight, as well as an entirely new skill tree that will give players new abilities like the ability to dismount and strike an enemy—allowing Aloy to catapult herself into the air off of her mouth and into a powerfully, striking blow that can bring many enemies to their knees. We’ve also learned that the ability to forage while mounted is coming, which is definitely going to help out a lot when it comes to crafting lots of items like arrows and other ammunition for your weapons.
Another big change coming is a “posed” photo mode, which will allow you to set Aloy into specific poses, which will make setting up good photos much easier. Of course, we don’t fully know how this will work just yet, as no specific details about it have been released, but we do know that you’ll at least be able to make Aloy pose as if she is making snow angels, which is more than you can currently do at this time.
