Adding to this, The Good Life has a brand new publisher that you may be familiar with if you’ve played Murder By Numbers.

The Good Life Gets a New Publisher and Release Window

Game director Hidetaka Suehiro (aka SWERY) made an update post on Kickstarter talking about the progress of his upcoming game, The Good Life. At the top of the update list, it was revealed that the game has a brand new publisher, The Irregular Corporation.

In the past, The Irregular Corporation has published games like Murder By Numbers from Mediatonic. Hearing they’ll be publishing The Good Life is pretty exciting, as is the knowledge that the game is undergoing a number of improvements ahead of its updated release which is now scheduled for Summer 2021.

If you’re wondering what these improvements are exactly, the blog post provides a concise list that gives you a better idea as to what’s being worked on between now and summer.

  • English characters voice acted by VAs
  • American characters voice acted by VAs
  • English localization proofreading provided by an English writer
  • Additional languages for text and UI
  • Thorough bug checking performed by the publisher
  • Other detailed improvements

The list of improvements is followed by a statement from SWERY asking for understanding in regards to the delay, and for confidence from gamers in knowing the delay will result in a better final product as a whole.

“Personally, I want to deliver The Good Life to you all as quickly as possible. But I also understand after working on it so hard for such a long time that just a little more TLC will make it a lot better overall in the end. That’s why I hope you’ll give us all the time to further polish what we’ve built up. I hope these feelings can reach everyone! I also hope from the bottom of my heart that you’ll keep cheering us on.”

The post also notes that for Kickstarter backers, surveys for the campaign along with hoodie design and address where the Collector’s Edition will be shipped will be sent out during the latter half of January 2021.

Another update will reportedly be made that provides additional details regarding these items in the future. As a whole, we appreciate the transparency in regards to The Good Life and we look forward to playing the game in the summer.

While we wait, it’s worth taking another look at the game’s most recent trailer to get a refresher as to what the game’s about, who the characters are, and so on and so forth. We’ve included this trailer for you to watch with us down below.
