As you make your way across the continent of Valentia, you’re bound to come across quite a few interesting characters who are more than willing to join your party. Some of these characters will be tougher to find than others, and in this article you’ll find a full list of all the NPCs that you can recruit throughout the game. We’ll also show you how to recruit characters in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia such as Gray, Tobin, Faye, Kliff, Lukas and more, and tell you where you can them, which will make recruiting them much easier.
This list is a work in progress, and we’ll be updating it constantly as we discover new allies during our journey across Valentia. Be sure to check back often for updated information.
Act I
The first Act of the game focuses solely on Alm and his journey through Zofia. Here are all the recruitable NPCs you’ll encounter during this act.

How to Recruit: Recruited in the village of Ram, before Alm leaves on his quest. Automatically joins your party.

How to Recruit: Joins Alm’s party after Mycen refuses to come to Zofia’s aid, when Alm chooses to take his place. Automatically joins your party.

How to Recruit: Recruited after defeating the thieves in the Thieves’ Shrine Interior.

Clair
How to Recruit: Can be recruited after you free her from the cell in the Southern Outpost.

How to Recruit: Recruited after fighting to the end of the Deliverance hideout. Speak with him to get him to join your party.

How to Recruit: The former leader of the Deliverance will join your party after you reach the end of the Deliverance hideout. Speak to him to recruit him.
Starting Class: Cavalier
Python
How to Recruit: You first meet Python at the Entrance of the Deliverance hideout, but he cannot be recruited until you reach the end. Speak to him again as you head out of the hideout to recruit him into your party.

Act II
At the start of Act II, players are reintroduced to Celica, and they’ll be following her path for the next several missions. Here are all of the recruitable NPCs you can encounter during this Act.

How to Recruit: Can be recruited after defeating the Pirate King Barth. Head into the Pirate Throne Interior and talk to him.

How to Recruit: Can be recruited in the Pirate Throne Interior Entrance after you recruit Valbar.
Starting Class: Archer
Kamui
How to Recruit: Can be recruited in the Pirate Throne Interior Entrance after defeating the Pirate King Barth and recruiting Valbar.

Act III
In Act III players are able to move both Alm and Celica. This means you’ll technically be continuing both stories in one act. From here on out we’ll notate which character’s path you will need to be following to find the characters and recruit them.

How to Recruit: Recruited from Zophia Harbor after defeating Garth and his men on Celica’s path. Return to Zophia Harbor to the south and speak with her and her sister in the Entrance.
Starting Class: Pegasus Knight
Catria
How to Recruit: Can be recruited from Zophia Harbor after you defeat Garth while following Celica’s path. Return to the harbor town and speak to her and her sister inside the Entrance of the harbor.

How to Recruit: Visit the Forest Village Plaza along Alm’s path and speak with him to recruit Luthier into your party.

Mathilda
How to Recruit: Ensure she survives during the battle where Alm and his army attack Desaix’s Fort, and then speak with her at the prison inside the fort.
Starting Class: Paladin
Delthea
How to Recruit: Defeat Tatara with Alm’s party and make sure that Delthea survives the battle. After the battle, visit the Floodgates and speak to her to have her join your party.
Starting Class: Witch (Joins as a Mage)
Atlas
How to Recruit: Can be talked to inside the Mountain Village along Celica’s path.
Starting Class: Villager
Jesse
How to Recruit: Speak with Jesse inside the prison at the Desert Fort and he’ll offer to join Celica’s party.
Starting Class: Mercenary
Sonya
How to Recruit: Defeat Dean and then speak with Sonia in the Tactics Room inside Grieth’s Fort after you defeat Grieth. She’ll offer to join Celica’s team.
Starting Class: Witch(Joins as Mage)
Deen
How to Recruit: Defeat Sonia and then speak with Dean inside the Tactics Room in Grieth’s Fort. He’ll offer to join Celica’s team.

How to Recruit: Visit the prison inside of Grieth’s Fort to have Est offer to join Celica’s party.

Tatiana
How to Recruit: Speak with Tatiana inside the prison at Nuibaba’s Manor to have her offer to join Alm’s party.
Starting Class: Saint
Zeke
How to Recruit: Zeke will offer to join Alm on his quest after you recruit Tatiana. From there, head to Rigel Village Resident 1 and speak with him to have him join the party.
Starting Class: Gold Knight
Mycen
How to Recruit: Automatically joins your party at the end of Alm’s path in Act IV.
Starting Class: Gold Knight
Nomah
How to Recruit: Nomah can be found at the far side of the Temple of Mila, after you lower the water. Speak with him to have him offer to join Celica’s party.
Starting Class: Sage
Conrad
How to Recruit: This character joins Celica’s party automatically after you clear Dolk’s Fort.
Starting Class: Paladin
