Passive power.

Diablo 4 is finally, actually here. After over a decade of waiting, Blizzard’s first truly great game in years is in our hands, and I’ve got the perfect guide for any aspiring Sorcerer looking to dip their toes into the class’ unique mechanic: Enchantment Slots. Here’s how Enchantment Slots work in Diablo 4.

What are Enchantment Slots in Diablo 4?

Enchantment Slots, strictly speaking, allow for passive buffs granted by any active skill. These two slots can be socketed with skills of your choosing at any time and swapped out without penalty. You can even slot in skills granted by items, meaning you don’t even have to use skill points to benefit from them! The passive buff granted by each skill is listed at the bottom of their respective tooltips, under Enchantment Effect.

These passive effects can be very powerful when utilized correctly. For example, Blizzard’s Enchantment effect spawns a Blizzard every 15 seconds which follows the player. Pair this with some Legendary abilities, such as one which reduces damage taken when standing in your own Blizzard, for some great synergy.

How to Unlock More Enchantment Slots in Diablo 4

The first slot unlocks at level 15, after the completion of the Priority Quest Legacy of the Magi. This quest takes place in Nevesk, which players will likely remember from the opening hour of the game. This quest is quite short, and shouldn’t take more than ten or fifteen minutes. Trust me – it’s worth getting done so you can start enjoying the free extra power of your new passive perks. If you’re having a hard time remembering where Nevesk is, check the map below.

The second slot unlocks automatically upon reaching level 30. No quest requirement this time, assuming you’ve already completed the quest mentioned above.
