How to Increase Your Light Level

The number one step to getting ready for any new raid is to make sure your Guardians are a high enough Light Level. To do this you’ll need to increase your Light Level as close to the recommended level as possible. At this time Bungie suggests having a Light Level of 370 or higher before starting up the raid. This means you’re going to need to put in some work and grind out the Heroic Strikes, Archon’s Forge, and even Crucible matches. Once you’ve gotten a high enough Light Level to be comfortable heading into the strike (we’d suggest being within at least 10 Light Levels away from the recommended level) it is time to move on.

How to Get Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launcher

Exotic Weapons are a great way to increase your Light Level and make sure you have everything you need. Two Exotic Weapons you’ll want to make sure you grab before heading into the Wrath of the Machine raid include the new Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic Assault Rifle and the all new Year 3 Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launch. Both these weapons are great items to have, and both drop at 350, which will allow you to raise your Light Level if you’re not already at a higher level. After you’ve completed both those quests, and acquired those weapons, don’t be afraid to grind for more Exotic Engrams, as all the Year 2 Exotic Weapons can be infused up to Year 3 standards. You can check out our guide for the Khvostov Exotic Rifle, or head on over and find out how to get the new Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launcher.

How to Complete the Iron Tomb Mission in Rise of Iron

Before you head into the raid, make sure you’ve complete the Destiny: Rise of Iron campaign missions. It only takes around two hours or so to do it, and it allows you to get a good idea of what kind of enemies you’re going to be up against in the raid. One particular mission, the final mission, is a great indication of the kind of enemies we might see in the raid. It’s also a great way to become accustomed to the Iron Lord Battleaxe Relic, which we’re sure to see more of as we take on SIVA in the Wrath of the Machine. This equippable item slowly discharges over time, and with each attack. However, unlike previous relics of this nature, you can actually recharge it by standing next to special lit braziers. This will recharge the relic and allow you to unleash more devastation upon your enemies. It also looks really cool when you do it, so it’s a win/win for Guardians everywhere.

Now that you know how to make sure you’re prepared for the Wrath of the Machine raid, it’s time to get out there and get prepared. Use the tips we’ve offered above to raise your Light Level, grab the Exotic Gjallarhorn and Khvostov 7G-0X, and even complete the Iron Tomb mission in the Destiny: Rise of Iron campaign. We’ve also taught you how to use the new battleaxe relics, which you can recharge at lit Iron Lord braziers within the game. Destiny: Rise of Iron is out now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and the Wrath of the Machine raid is now live for both systems.
