This article will show you how to unlock the Devil’s Dawn sniper rifle, a Destiny: Rise of Iron exclusive weapon that can be found in the SIVA Crisis Strike Playlist. The Devil’s Dawn is a fantastic weapon for the Wrath of the Machine Raid, as well as Nightfall Strikes, because it will deal bonus damage to Fallen enemies. Step 1: Acquire Skeleton Keys
Skeleton Keys are required to open chests at the end of strikes in Rise of Iron. Strike specific loot will no longer drop at random, instead they are placed inside of locked chests that appear after a boss fight. You can get your first Skeleton Key by completing the “None are Perfect” Quest, this is the one that Shiro-4 gives you to defeat Sepiks Perfected.
Once you complete the None are Perfect Quest, Skeleton Keys will have a chance to drop from strikes. According to Bungie, Skeleton Keys can drop in any Strike Playlist, with the SIVA Crisis Heroic and Nightfall lists having the highest chances. We recommend at least two or three Skeleton Keys before trying to get Devil’s Dawn. If you are struggling with the Heroic playlist, we can help you raise your light level quickly.
Step 2: Play SIVA Crisis Strikes
The 320 light level SIVA Crisis strikes are the quickest way to unlock multiple chests in one play session, you and your fireteam should be able to quickly tear down the lower light enemies. Skeleton Keys also have a chance to drop in this playlist, which will give you more chances to get Devil’s Dawn!
Step 3: Open the SIVA Crisis Strike Chests
Once you defeat a boss in a Strike, a Skeleton Key Chest will appear where the boss initially spawned. This is where you can get the Devil’s Dawn. However, the Devil’s Dawn will not be in every chest, so save your Skeleton Key for one of three strikes – The Wretched Eye, Sepiks Perfected, and The Abomination Heist. These three Strikes have a chance to drop Devil’s Dawn, as well as class items. If you are a Hunter, use your Skeleton Key after Phogoth for a chance at Devil’s Dawn, plus Mongrel Ogres Grasps. Warlocks in the hunt for Devil’s Dawn will want to use their key after Sepiks for a chance at the Sepiks Deposed Bond, while Titans should try after The Wretched Eye for the Anathema Cannon Mark. You are free to use your Skeleton Key after any of the three new strikes, since they all could drop Devil’s Dawn, but you may also get a class item you have no need for! There is still some dreaded RNG to be found while trying to get Devil’s Dawn, but using your Skeleton Key selectively is the best way to increase your odds. We got our Devil’s Dawn after using two tries in The Wretched Eye strike.
Step 4: Best Devil’s Dawn Loadout
The Devil’s Dawn sniper has locked perks, meaning all of them are the same. The only variation is what elemental damage it can do. Cross your fingers for Void, so you can take down SIVA infected Captains, or Solar to easily defeat shielded Shanks. The great thing about Devil’s Dawn is it comes with a free bonus perk, Disciplinarian, that will deal bonus damage to Fallen enemies.
We recommend using Accurized Ballistics for the slight boost to impact, and for the middle perk column, go with Armor Piercing Rounds or Quickdraw. You will want to avoid anything that decreases your reload speed, since that will negatively impact your DPS against bosses.
