Battlefield V’s Battle Royale Mode Launches in March 2019

DICE has outlined the post-launch plans for Battlefield V in a new roadmap.

Today, DICE revealed their post-launch plans for Battlefield V in a new roadmap for the game’s upcoming live service, Tides of War. Battlefield V’s live service will feature three chapters of content, each releasing at designated times in the months that follow Battlefield V’s release in November. Each chapter will feature new maps, customizations, single-player War Stories, and game modes, including the game’s brand new battle royale mode, Firestorm.

Overture, the first chapter of post-launch content for Battlefield V, arrives just two weeks after the game’s launch and will include a new map and War Story. In the second chapter, Lightning Strikes, Battlefield V players can look forward to the return of Rush mode, a favorite in the franchise. Chapter 2 also marks the debut of Combined Arms, a new co-op experience for Battlefield V. The second set of post-launch DLC will release in January 2019.

Chapter three is perhaps the most anticipated set of post-launch content for Battlefield V, as this chapter marks the debut of Firestorm, DICE’s foray into the realm of battle royale. As you would expect, Firestorm will feature the “shrinking playing field” signature to the genre, as well as “trademark Battlefield elements such as team play, powerful vehicles, and destruction,” according to DICE. Firestorm and the rest of the content featured in Trial By Fire will arrive in March 2019.

Each chapter in Battlefield V’s live-service lineup will also include weekly events and challenges that allow players to unlock rewards, much like Fortnite’s seasonal setup. It’s worth noting that all of this post-launch content will be free to all Battlefield V players, which certainly makes these upcoming add-ons much more enticing.

After being delayed, Battlefield V is now scheduled to release on November 20 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more on Firestorm or the other content mentioned in today’s live-service roadmap for Battlefield V, head over to the Battlefield blog.
