Prima Picks: Games You Should Play this Weekend
Six of the best for the weekend!

Sometimes, as gamers, we feel so overwhelmed by all the games out there that we just don’t know where to start or what to try out. I know, I had this feeling the week I planned this segment.
Hence, I’ve decided to list out six awesome games you can play this weekend, every weekend. I’ll be updating this list every Friday, so bookmark this page and check back if you’re ever in need of great games to play.
New Games to Play this Weekend
Here are two awesome new releases that dropped recently that can help fill out your weekend with some good old gaming fun.
Elden Ring Nightreign

Of course, Neightreign’s on the list, it just launched today! It’s already clocked well over 300k players, and looks set to smash a record or two. But don’t just dive into this one lightly, it’s a hardcore experience where you’re very likely to run into some salty players.
Still, if you love the Elden Ring universe, this is an absolute must-play. It’s Elden Ring, but with a roguelike twist. Really intriguing entry if I do say so myself!
Nice Day for Fishing

Is fishing too boring for you? Ever wished that fish would fight back, and that you’d have to block, parry, and attack your way to angling greatness? Well then, my strange yet probably loveable friend, here’s a game for you.
Nice Day for Fishing is a charming pixel art adventure where you grab your fishing rod and do battle with the denizens of the aquatic realms. I hope that makes it sound more alluring than “this is a fishing game,” because it’s so much more than that.
As you progress, you learn to… I guess, fight fish… upgrade your rod, and embed yourself deeper into this awesome little universe. It’s a great little game from the folks who brought us Viva La Dirt League, if you’re into YouTube, so definitely worth a play.
Retro Games to Play this Weekend
Let’s take a step back in time and look at awesome games from yesteryear. Every week, I’ll scrounge up two top picks in this category. Here are this week’s picks.
Final Fantasy VII

It’s the first week I’m keeping this list, and you can be damn sure I won’t leave my favorite game of all time off of it. Final Fantasy VII is an old-school, turn-based RPG that sees you take on an evil Mega Corporation, and actually win in the end. Well, kinda.
It goes much deeper than that, naturally, and there are plenty of subplots, complex themes, and heartache to be found in this absolute master class in storytelling. If you like big, sweeping RPGs where your presence makes a difference in the world, Final Fantasy VII is the game for you.
No, you can’t just play the remake. It’s not the same game. Not even close. The best way to experience Final Fantasy VII is the remastered edition on Steam or PS4.
Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen

I almost forgot this game existed before I sat down to think about what to include here. And dangit, now I feel like playing it again! It’s a tactics/RTS game with a very decent story, and it was made all the way back in 1993 for the SNES. At least, that’s where I played it.
You go up against all sorts of interesting characters in fairly tough battles, upgrade units, and march your troops to an eventual victory in this absolute gem. If you’ve ever played an RTS game and had any sort of fun, Ogre Battle will keep you entertained for hours, trust me.
Free Games to Play This Weekend
When the budget for games runs empty, do not fear. There are tons of free games around the internet, and we can always find something worth playing if we’re willing to look around. For this week, I’ve taken a suggestion from Enzo for the first title.
Dunk City Dynasty

Dunk City Dynasty is a new, fully licensed NBA game by NetEase where you manage and play with a team of star basketball athletes. You get to level up your players, use special abilities, and a whole lot more.
Enzo’s been crushing it and loving every moment. If you like basketball, check it out! And if you want a head start, check out the Dunk City Dynasty player tier list.
Palia

Palia is a free-to-play title available on Steam, and you’ll love it if you’re into cozy games. You can farm, craft, and socialize with your friends in a beautiful, wonderfully designed world. It’s a relaxing, easy-going adventure, and you’ll never feel like you’re in danger or pressed for time.
It’s the type of game you can enjoy at your own pace, and truly just take it easy for a while.
That’s All, Folks!
That concludes the list for this week. I’ll update this article every Friday, so go ahead and bookmark it to check back next week and see what’s new. I’ll make sure you never run out of games to play again.
Until next week, have fun gaming!
