As promised, we’re delivering you coverage from the San Diego Comic-Con event, with plenty of details regarding what went down during the four day event. If you’re not there in person, experiencing it for yourself, well, this is the next best thing!
First up, we hit the Skylanders: Trap Team booth, which is located at booth 303 on the show floor. Here, you’re able to try out the new Activision title, including the new “talking” traps as well as the ability to play as select villains from the game, including Kaos. Trap Team is playable across various points around the center, so if you see it, make sure you stop by and check it out. Oh, and get your photo with a Skylander to boot!
Next up, Bandai Namco hosted a special panel to talk about upcoming games. The key focus for this particular panel, however, was Tekken 7, as the team came on board to talk more about the game and reveal the full trailer. Although full gameplay wasn’t revealed just yet, Tekken 7 will utilize the Unreal Engine tech, so that you know it’ll get the most out of staging the fighting action we’ve come to expect from the series. We’re looking forward to its eventual arrival sometime in 2015.
Square Enix and Deep Silver teamed up to host a special lounge located at the Whiskey Girl on 702 5th Avenue, allowing gamers to drop by and check out the latest from what they have to offer. Deep Silver had plenty on hand between Sacred 3, Escape Dead Island and other titles, while Square Enix brought a fair share of great games with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and the multiplayer action game Nosgoth. We’ll have full impressions of all these games, and more, in the weeks ahead.
From there, we hit a few panels, including the Battlefield: Hardline panel (in which the team went to great length talking about the delay to 2015, and introducing the vocal talent behind it, including the lovely Kelly Hu). From there, we moved on to the Street Fighter panel, where the team revealed a new live-action series in the works, World Warrior, which ties in with the previously debuted Assassin’s Fist series. It’s expected to arrive sometime in 2015, with most of its original cast intact.
As for the rest of the show, we checked out a lot of what was happening around it. Fox hosted a special booth outside of the main hall, featuring a zipline that ties in with the forthcoming Gotham series, as well as a special Simpsons shooting gallery and other goodies. Across from there, in the main sector of the Gaslamp district, NBC hosted a number of events surrounding its upcoming series Constantine, as well as the returning The Blacklist, which will debut its second season later this year.
To end our night, Square Enix and Deep Silver hosted a big bash at Whiskey Girl, with plenty of attendees enjoying themselves and partaking in multiplayer sessions of Nosgoth and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. They couldn’t have thrown a better party. Kudos to all involved!
We’re looking forward to day three of the convention, so be sure to check back for all the details. Oh, and you saw the “shaggin’ wagon”, right? It’s nice to have Dumb & Dumber To coming along later this year…even if Harry and Lloyd aren’t actually around.
And don’t forget, we’re still giving away stuff at the Prima Games booth. Stop by!
