Yesterday was Thursday, today it is Friday, and that means it’s End of the Week recap time. Woo!

If you’re unfamiliar with our End of the Week recap is and what it’s for, the End of the Week recap is essentially an “in case you missed it” feature where we curate articles published to the site during the week.

This includes news, reviews, features, and sometimes guides. If you’re looking to see if we have something written on a topic you’re interested in, the End of the Week recap is a great resource.

We also use our End of the Week recap piece to get Prima Games staff together to talk about gaming news, but also other random topics because hey, we like to have fun around here.

This week, we’ve been trying out different games on the Series X and PS5, and have been following news about The Game Awards and their GOTY nominees.

What games have you been playing this week?

Once again the main one I can't talk about! But I've also been chipping away at Valhalla, and smashing my way through Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered to start filling gaps in our guide pool for that game.

What are your thoughts on the GOTY nominees for The Game Awards?

DOOM Eternal was one of the biggest disappointments of the year for me. So that's kinda weird to see that nominated in such a packed year of dope games.

Adding to that, what games do you think have a shot at making it onto Prima’s list of GOTY nominees?

I think Yakuza has a real shot, othewise I'm not sure! I'm looking forward to those discussions and what Morgan has cooking for how we decide it!

What was your GOTY for 2019?

Last year was off the hinges for good-ass videogames. Gun to my head I'm probably going with Devil May Cry 5, but Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Resident Evil 2, and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night were all contenders.

Favorite piece on the site this week, and why?

Morgan's Spider-Man sightseeing feature, fo sho. Was my Kingdom Hearts review this week? If so that, if not my Assassin's Creed Valhalla build guide. But only because I wrote "Yogi Bear" in it.

What games are you planning to play over the weekend?

It's another review game weekend for me!

Are you watching anything interesting (movies, TV) that you’d recommend?

Whenever I feel like I need some brain stims as a critic, I like to watch Super Eyepatch Wolf on YouTube.

Bonus question, do you have any pets, and if so, what are they and what are their names?

Two cats! Taco and Q*Bert. Had a snake named Dandy until fairly recently, but we had to re-home him after some apartment drama. Landlords suck, y'all.

What games have you been playing this week?

Weirdly I've been playing a lot of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, like more than I ever thought I would. Everything else has kind of taken a back seat to that.

What are your thoughts on the GOTY nominees for The Game Awards?

I think it's as expected. Would have loved to see Half-Life Alyx get some more love, but otherwise, it's a pretty solid list.

Adding to that, what games do you think have a shot at making it onto Prima’s list of GOTY nominees?

Hmm, well I don't wanna show my hand too early, but I can almost guarantee Hades and Yakuza will be in there.

What was your GOTY for 2019?

Outer Wilds. Seriously, go play Outer Wilds. Don't look anything up about it, just go play it.

Favorite piece on the site this week, and why?

I enjoyed seeing all of those sweet NYC spots in Morgan's Spider-Man piece.

What games are you planning to play over the weekend?

AC Valhalla and going to try out Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

Are you watching anything interesting (movies, TV) that you’d recommend?

I have to catch up on last week and this week's Mandolorian.

Bonus question, do you have any pets, and if so, what are they and what are their names?

In my apartment, I don't have any pets, but back at my parent's house they have three dogs, Chewy, Jupiter, and Dexter and they are all absolutely wonderful

What games have you been playing this week?

I've been playing through Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it's wonderful. Also catching up with Animal Crossing: New Horizons following the holiday update.

What are your thoughts on the GOTY nominees for The Game Awards?

I was really happy to see Hades nominated for so many awards, the game is amazing and it deserves some big wins this year! I was also happy to see Ghost of Tsushima nominated for GOTY. I will go to my grave defending Ghost of Tsushima as an amazing game, and that's all I'll say about that lol.

Adding to that, what games do you think have a shot at making it onto Prima’s list of GOTY nominees?

Well, you can probably tell I'm going to pitch Ghost of Tsushima as a nominee. I'm sure Hades will be nominated as well. I'd also like to have Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the nominee list.

What was your GOTY for 2019?

For indie games, my GOTY was Disco Elysium. For AAA, my GOTY was Tetris 99. It was my personal GOTY for a number of reasons. I'd also nod Devil May Cry 5, Outer Worlds, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order as being deserving of GOTY.

Favorite piece on the site this week, and why?

Jesse's guide for the Coffin Dance Easter Egg in Call of Duty was fantastic. Also loved Lucas's guides for Demon's Souls, they're extremely helpful.

What games are you planning to play over the weekend?

Speaking of Demon's Souls and Call of Duty, those are the two games I'm going to be working through over the weekend so I can help contribute guides to the site.

Are you watching anything interesting (movies, TV) that you’d recommend?

I've been watching the new Supermarket Sweep because I like watching mindless TV while I eat dinner and it's actually pretty fantastic. I loved Supermarket Sweep growing up so seeing it come back warms my heart.

Likewise, the reboot of Weakest Link was pretty great as well. It's interesting to see both of these shows come back with comedians as hosts. I think it works really, really well.

Bonus question, do you have any pets, and if so, what are they and what are their names?

Yes, I have three cats! My grey cat with white sock paws is named Saitama but I just call him Tama, my large chonky long-haired black cat is named Ippo, and my old orange kind of messy looking cat is named Roshi.
