What do you think about PAX West returning in-person this September?

I’m not really sure! The idea of an in-person event sounds so alien to me, so it’s hard to distinguish the COVID trauma from reasonable thoughts. I hope they change their vaccine policy, but I am excited at the process of going as a vaccinated person.

What was one of the stranger stories you saw during the week?

I think the Final Fantasy IX show. I always figured any Final Fantasy multimedia thing would generally be its own thing outside of Final Fantasy VII. And IX is one that’s kind of divisive! I hope it’s a good show. It’s my favorite one.

Are you playing the new Mario Golf? If so, how are you enjoying it so far?

Nope! Golf does absolutely nothing for me, even Mario style.

Are there any games you’re looking forward to in July?

Sure! Monster Hunter Stories 2 seems great, and I already know I’m into Samurai Warriors 5. Combine that with a new Sam and Max and Great Ace Attorney finally getting localized and that’s a hell of a month. Death’s Door, too!

Favorite piece(s) on the site this week, and why?

Jesse’s interview with Outer Wild’s composer was great. Dude does a mean “interview as story” article.

Are you playing any fun or exciting video games this weekend?

Gonna dive even further into Scarlet Nexus. Game’s lit, for real.

Do you have any TV, movie, anime, or music recommendations that you’d like to share?

Well, I just wrapped up The World Ends With You, in just enough time to try the NEO demo! It was a good time overall, and playing the new demo explains some of the visual decisions in the show. It’s worth a watch if Square Enix speaks your language.

Bonus question, what’s one of the funniest video game related videos you’ve ever seen?

Hm. The funniest in recent memory would be Kazuya’s debut Smash Bros. trailer! I’m sure there are tons of memes and stuff I’m forgetting, but that stands out right now.

What do you think about PAX West returning in-person this September?

I was super on board until they didn’t require vaccinations. Waiting to see if that changes.

What was one of the stranger stories you saw during the week?

They are making a Final Fantasy 9 television show and I’m not sure how to feel about that.

Are you playing the new Mario Golf? If so, how are you enjoying it so far?

I’ve only played one round so far, but it’s going to be my chill out with friends game. Excited to dig into it more.

Are there any games you’re looking forward to in July?

I might pick up Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, but otherwise I think July is going to be my month to tackle some of the stuff on my backlog.

Favorite piece(s) on the site this week, and why?

Going to plug my interview with Andrew Prahlow. The Composer of the Outer Wilds soundtrack.

Are you playing any fun or exciting video games this weekend?

I have some friends visiting from out of town, so maybe so split-screen Mario Golf.

Do you have any TV, movie, anime, or music recommendations that you’d like to share?

I’ve been binging MasterChef for no good reason, but y’all should watch MasterChef because it owns.

Bonus question, what’s one of the funniest video game related videos you’ve ever seen?

The Wii Shop Channel Wednesday video continues to be the best video game-related video on the internet.

What do you think about PAX West returning in-person this September?

I’m happy to hear it. I think the big thing will be the safety protocols and procedures put in place, but as of right now I’m optimistic about possibly attending.

What was one of the stranger stories you saw during the week?

The Final Fantasy IX series news and the target audience age for sure.

Are you playing the new Mario Golf? If so, how are you enjoying it so far?

I am not at the moment, though I am definitely considering getting a copy and playing this weekend.

Are there any games you’re looking forward to in July?

Probably Cris Tales, also The Great Ace Attorney games.

Favorite piece(s) on the site this week, and why?

Loved the interview Jesse did with the composer of The Outer Wilds soundtrack, and the Ender Lilies review that Lucas did

Are you playing any fun or exciting video games this weekend?

Maybe Mario Golf, probably more Chivalry 2.

Do you have any TV, movie, anime, or music recommendations that you’d like to share?

I’ve been watching Sweet Tooth on Netflix and am fascinated by it. Also re-watched Ever After and love it just as much as ever, it really is one of the best “Cinderella” movies.

Bonus question, what’s one of the funniest video game related videos you’ve ever seen?

Hands down the video of the Chivalry low gravity mod where all the characters are screaming (they scream when they fall in the game, the low gravity makes the characters think they’re falling so they’re just constantly screaming). I’ve seen the clip a dozen times, and it makes me laugh every single time.
