If you use Twitch, we also do a livestream every Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (ET) on twitch.tv/primagames.

With all of that info out of the way, let’s dig right in to the news of the week including game announcements, delays, and more!

Were there any games announced this week that you’re interested in taking a closer look at?

Definitely interested in Astria Ascending, because the creative leads on it are super interested. It’s also curious because I’ve played Artisan Studios’ last RPG and… it wasn’t great. So I’m curious about where that team has gone from there.

What do you think about the delay of Back 4 Blood to October?

This isn’t really a game I’m super concerned about. I did draft it on Fantasy Critic though, so I’m glad it hasn’t slipped to 2022 yet. Left 4 Dead was great! I do wonder how people will respond to a similar game now.

Ghost of Tsushima is getting a film adaptation, what are your thoughts?

I’m really not in this game’s camp… sorry! It was fun to run around the world and all, but I really didn’t get much out of it otherwise.

Do you have any wild gaming predictions, like a release window for a game that currently does not have one?

My hottest take-slash-prediction for now is that we’ll see Final Fantasy VII Remake’s sequel a lot sooner than anyone expects. Pandemic makes it less of a sure bet, but my hunch persists.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

I started Monster Hunter Rise just a few hours after Jesse, and I was really thankful I read his DLC guide. That part of the game isn’t as clear as it could be, haha.

Are you playing any cool games over the weekend?

Monster Hunter! Also trying out Mary Skelter (for better and worse) and will be starting Balan Wonderworld soon.

What about TV, anime, music, or movies… anything you’d recommend?

I’m really not sure if I reccommend the Snyder Cut or not… it’s deeply fascinating but still a bad movie. Just, bad in a different way. I feel like all the outside context makes it an appealing watch though, at least academically.

Bonus question, what would you say are some of the cutest video game characters designs?

I don’t think all the Job outfits from Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! have any competition whatsoever.

Were there any games announced this week that you’re interested in taking a closer look at?

That new Drinkbox Studios game Nobody Saves The World looks awesome, same with Death’s Door!

What do you think about the delay of Back 4 Blood to October?

I really loved the technical alpha when I played it. If the delay makes it any better then I’m all for it!

Ghost of Tsushima is getting a film adaptation, what are your thoughts?

Movies like this don’t occupy space in my brain until they are way closer. I’ll probably forget about it unless it actually comes together.

Do you have any wild gaming predictions, like a release window for a game that currently does not have one?

This year has been a guessing game for so much. I have no idea what the future has in store, so let’s just say Breath of the Wild 2 is coming this year.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

Going to plug my own preview for The Lord of The Rings: Gollum. I got to see exclusive footage that you can check out.

Are you playing any cool games over the weekend?

Monster Hunter Rise baby! Going to take my entire weekend.

What about TV, anime, music, or movies… anything you’d recommend?

I have to watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier which I’ve been enjoying a lot. I’ve also been on a big Riverdale kick for better or worse.

Bonus question, what would you say are some of the cutest video game characters designs?

Viva Pinata for sure. Every character adorable.

Were there any games announced this week that you’re interested in taking a closer look at?

Of Bird and Cage caught my attention, but mostly because I love Bumblefoot as a guitar player and want to hear more of the music in the game. Also very intrigued by Arctic Awakening, the concept of it brought me back to my days as a child reading Hatchet by Gary Paulson with the surviving in the Arctic wilderness vibe. I dig it.

What do you think about the delay of Back 4 Blood to October?

I was a little surprised, but at the same time delays are always for good reason and I think it’ll result in a better game as a whole. Also October is spooky month, Back 4 Blood is perfect for that sort of time frame.

Ghost of Tsushima is getting a film adaptation, what are your thoughts?

I’m very excited, Ghost of Tsushima is a favorite of mine. The game itself is very cinematic already, so I think it might do well. Hopefully it’s cast well, that’s the biggest thing I think.

Do you have any wild gaming predictions, like a release window for a game that currently does not have one?

I’d second Jesse’s about Breath of the Wild 2 coming out this year. I’d go even further as to say it’ll be a holiday release with the new Switch, if that indeed drops this year. My only other prediction is that we’ll see Halo Infinite in November, again, as a holiday release.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

I’m going to have to plug my own where I interviewed the developer working on a lovely indie game called Haiku, the Robot. Adding Jesse’s The Lord of the Rings Gollum preview, and Lucas’s review of Saviors of Sapphire Wings/Stranger of Sword City as must-reads.

Are you playing any cool games over the weekend?

None that I can talk about yet, but there’s one indie that I’ve been playing that’s really cool that I’m looking forward to talking about soon.

What about TV, anime, music, or movies… anything you’d recommend?

So… I’ve been watching this anime called My Roommate is a Cat and it’s the cutest thing, I adore it so much and definitely recommend it if you like slice of life anime.

Also adding my regular kpop recommendation because I can’t help myself… SHINee’s “Don’t Call Me” has been stuck in my head all week and I have zero complaints. If you like dance and choreography, the choreo-focused video shot by Studio Choom for the song is also really cool.

Bonus question, what would you say are some of the cutest video game characters designs?

Kirby is the cutest video game character ever created. I’m a little biased though because Kirby is my son’s favorite character and he carries a Kirby plushie with him everywhere he goes, it’s really really adorable. If I had to pick something other than Kirby, I’d say the Palicoes in Monster Hunter are pretty darn cute.
