So… the stock market has been a thing this week. What do you think of everything going on with GameStop stock and beyond?

I think it’s awesome for several reasons. One, it’s just entertaining on a surface level. Then you have the Wall Street panic, which feels cathartic after what happened in 2008, and during the Occupy Wall Street stuff. Career investors have been screwing people over for decades and it’s nice to see a group of people band together and make them sweat.

On a personal level, I like to have reasons to learn new things, and I’ve become much more educated in “stonks” than I ever expected to be. Finally, GameStop being in the middle of this therefore forcing coverage from our neck of the woods has been absolutely hilarious. This feels like a flashpoint moment and watching it go down in real time has been a blast.

The PS Plus lineup for February looks pretty solid, what do you think of PS Plus vs. Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass lately?

I often don’t pay much attention to them, although I do redeem the ones I want to play eventaully. The best part is that we’re kind of easing into the new consoles more than usual, so I think that means there’ll be a lot of cool stuff handed out a lot earlier than usual. Maneater, for example. Also it’s kind of ironic to see Control: Ultimate Edition there because of all the drama over its next-gen upgrade.

Speaking of Game Pass, The Medium is out and available through Game Pass. What do you think of The Medium?

I want to play it so bad! Everything Morgan has had to say about it has been super enticing and I just really want to get my hands on it. It’s on Game Pass so I’m set; I’m just hella busy at the moment and won’t have time for a hot minute. Sad!

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

Obviously, Morgan’s review of The Medium. Their perspective on stuff like this is valuable to me and I’m stoked to see what else they have lined up.

Are you playing any interesting games this weekend?

I’m going to mostly be playing Scott Pilgrim, probably, despite having already beaten it several times at this point. For reasons. Cool reasons. Follow me on Twitter is all I’m saying.

Watching anything (TV, movies, anime) that you’d recommend?

The Horror Vanguard podcast is keeping my brain in spaces outside of videogames when I need it. Leftist criticism of classic and current horror movies is my jam right now.

Bonus question, what’s a song from a video game soundtrack that you absolutely love? (You can list more than one, it’s really hard to just pick one).

This is a tough one because of all the weird and wild experiences I’ve had over the years that directly involve videogame music. So there’s a lot of sentimentality. Probably gotta go with Melodies of Life from Final Fantasy IX because it was a part of my wedding, haha.

So… the stock market has been a thing this week. What do you think of everything going on with GameStop stock and beyond?

It’s interesting because it’s not really a games story or even a Gamestop story. It’s a finance story and Gamestop is stuck in the middle of two feuding ideologies. It’s long and messy and a great example of how to market is based upon fear and hype.

The PS Plus lineup for February looks pretty solid, what do you think of PS Plus vs. Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass lately?

These are services I don’t generally interact with unless it’s a really killer lineup like this one. I’ve played Control and its DLC on PC, but I’m interested in putting the PS5 version through its paces. Also, Destruction AllStars actually looks like a ton of fun.

Speaking of Game Pass, The Medium is out and available through Game Pass. What do you think of The Medium?

I haven’t had the chance to sit down with it, but it’s probably something I’ll put some time into over the weekend.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

It’s of course Morgan’s The Medium review. It’s detailed and passionate and an exciting read.

Are you playing any interesting games this weekend?

I’ll probably play The Medium a bit and I’ve also fallen down a rabbit hole of Magic the Gathering.

Watching anything (TV, movies, anime) that you’d recommend?

Going to catch up on WandaVision but otherwise nothing super exciting on the horizon.

Bonus question, what’s a song from a video game soundtrack that you absolutely love? (You can list more than one, it’s really hard to just pick one).

Anything from the Persona series is a jam, but lately, I’ve been listening to Throw Away Your Mask on repeat.

So… the stock market has been a thing this week. What do you think of everything going on with GameStop stock and beyond?

I’ll admit I don’t know too much about the stock market. I have never invested, and I never planned to invest (probably still don’t). I have anxiety, so following the stock market makes me anxious lol. Outside of that I’m proud of everyone on Reddit and beyond getting together to show rich people that the stock market should be for everyone.

The fact that the rich are losing their minds over this makes it all the more enjoyable to watch. I’m rooting for all the regular people digging into the stock market.

The PS Plus lineup for February looks pretty solid, what do you think of PS Plus vs. Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass lately?

It’s a fantastic lineup for February, I’m looking forward to grabbing those as part of my PS Plus subscription. I think PS Plus has been looking a lot better than Xbox Live Gold lately, especially with the price increase fiasco before Microsoft changed their mind. Xbox Game Pass is still a standout to me though.

It shows time and time again that it’s worth the price by adding new games, and expanding what games are available in the same franchise, like adding all the Yakuza games on there. Huge fan of Xbox Game Pass.

Speaking of Game Pass, The Medium is out and available through Game Pass. What do you think of The Medium?

Well, I do have a review where I fawn over the game and talk about why I love it. I don’t often obsess over games like I’ve been obsessing over The Medium, so that alone shows how much I like it. That said, everyone has different taste and if The Medium hasn’t been your thing so far that’s cool too.

Favorite piece on the site this week and why?

I feel weird pointing to my own review, but I am happy with how The Medium review turned out. Adding to that, I loved the Atelier Ryza 2 review that Lucas did, and Jesse’s news coverage of the GameStop stock market stuff was superbly written.

Are you playing any interesting games this weekend?

I’m actually replaying The Medium for the walkthrough guides I’ve been writing, I really want to ensure I don’t miss anything and I take the best possible screenshots.

Watching anything (TV, movies, anime) that you’d recommend?

I might re-watch the Silent Hill movie this weekend. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it so while I say to myself, it wasn’t that bad, it may end up being worse than I remember. At the moment I recommend the movie to anyone who just wants something fun to sit through with a bowl of popcorn.

Bonus question, what’s a song from a video game soundtrack that you absolutely love? (You can list more than one, it’s really hard to just pick one).

My first thought was Alma’s music box from the F.E.A.R. series and then I was thinking about how much I love Time’s Scar from Chrono Cross. Outside of those two, I’d have to recommend giving a listen to If You Still Believe from Legend of Dragoon. It’s beautiful.
