7 Things You Didn’t Know About Titanfall

Star Wars fans will love number 3!

Considering it’s new, Titanfall will reveal more secrets over time. That did not prevent players from figuring out a few tricks this week. To stay one step (or double-jump) ahead of the competition, check out these 7 things you didn’t know about Titanfall. Some, like number four, will help you improve your in-game play. Others, like number six, will serve to make you the most well informed player on the Interwebs.

1.) Jump into Your Titan to Reload

So far, ammunition conservation doesn’t seem to be a huge issue with the game. It’s hard to run out for the most part. Come to think of it, that’s likely due to the fact that you get your Titan (or die) before you expend your arsenal. For arguments sake, let’s say your Titan currently guards or follows you. If you run low, hop into the pilot’s seat and then disembark. This tops off your ammo.

2.) Your Titan has Your Back

Because the game is only a few days old, it seems that when the opportunity arises, most people jump in and pilot their Titans until destruction. There are many strategic reasons to call in your Titan, leaving it in Follow or Guard Mode instead. Capturing an objective in Hardpoint Domination is one of them. When you leave your Titan in Guard Mode, it will turn and face the direction you were facing when given the order.

3.) Boba Fett? Boba Fett? Where!?

For Star Wars fans or those who follow Titanfall news online, this might not be a secret. Rob Shoberg, an artist at Respawn Entertainment, confirmed that the helmet frequently seen in the marketing leading up to the game’s release was indeed inspired by Boba Fett from Star Wars. If you’re interested in more Titanfall artwork, consider ordering The Art of Titanfall today. Something tells us you’ll want to own as many of the game’s collectibles as possible.

4.) Automatic Sprint Like Olympic Medalist Usain Bolt

Titanfall is all about speed and agility, getting from one place to another as quickly and creatively as you possibly can. Did you know that you can turn on Automatic Sprint in the game’s Options menu? Give it a try and see how you like it. We thought it would take some getting used to, but after a few minutes we saw no reason to go back.

Call this next add-on 4.1 if you want. Did you know there is a Bumper Jumper button layout as well? This swaps your jump button to the Right Bumper from A, allowing you increased control since you don’t have to move your thumb off the Right Analog Stick to jump.

5.) Evacuation Ship – Drop a Titan on it

Yesterday, we published an article and video outlining how to successfully destroy the Evacuation Ship in the game’s Epilogue. Even though we knew about this beforehand, we likely should have added it as a bonus tip. Were you aware you can destroy the Evacuation Ship by Titanfall? That’s right, call in your Titan at the Evacuation Ship’s location and you’ll score a one-hit kill. Whether this is mostly a move of skill or just plain luck… the jury’s still out.

6.) Red Star Restaurant

Here’s an Easter egg the general public is unlikely to know about. In the Titanfall Official Game Guide by Prima Games, many of the landmarks within the game’s 15 multiplayer maps are labeled, making them easier to call out to teammates. On Angel City, there is a restaurant (near the C Flag) with a large star on top. Paying tribute to the Editor in Chief of Prima Games, R3D_STAR, the guide authors called this place Red Star Restaurant.

7.) It’s a Bird… it’s a Plane… it’s a… What is that Thing?

If you had an opportunity to play on Boneyard, you’ve seen the massive Leviathan creatures lurking beyond the map’s boundaries. Although those monsters don’t seem to figure into the game at all, the smaller, mobile Flyers do. Follow a Spectre or Grunt long enough and you’ll see one scooped up and carted off. The best part, you can shoot these Flyers, earning a cool 100 XP each time you kill one. For those at home doing the math, that’s the equivalent of killing five Grunts.

As mentioned earlier, there’s bound to be more secrets revealed as players sink more hours into the game. For now, the ones mentioned above should give you a nice balance of function and fun. Have we missed something? If there’s a secret or Easter egg you know of, don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments.
